Common Assessment Tasks

After each unit there will be a controlled assessment in all four key areas (listening, speaking, reading, writing). Assessment will be take place every six to eight weeks, roughly corresponding to the end of each half term (October, December, March, May, July). Pupils will be awarded a national curriculum level for each area. At the end of year 7 your son should be working between level 3-5

You can help your son in this year

In addition to formal assessment, pupils will be continually assessed on vocabulary, where they will not only learn the words but will be required to use each word in a sentence. You can help your son to learn these words and encourage him to write a sentence for each one before the vocabulary test.
