The School Library is generally arranged in the same way as most Public Libraries. Resources are arranged into ten major subject groups according to the Dewey Decimal Classification System. In the School Library, each group is colour coded and allocated a main subject number as shown below:
Fiction and poetry are shelved as separate collections. These books are arranged alphabetically by author/poet surname. The first three letters of the surname are shown on the spine of the book. Reading guides to popular genres of fiction are available including Fantasy, Horror, Science Fiction, Romance, Mystery, Historical and Short Stories.
Searches for Library resources can be carried out on the Library computer. Alternatively, you can access the catalogue of Library resourcesfrom your own desktop on any networked computer. Follow the instructions on screen to see what is available in the Library. (Separate search guide available from the Library)
Resources should be returned directly to Ms Ross or to one of the Pupil Librarians. Alternatively, returned items can be placed in the returns box, which is located outside the Library Door.
